Marrying the right girl or the right race?

Well, while it may be easy for you to fall in love and get married after a few months or few years of courtship, you may want to watch what’s your partner’s race in Malaysia before you drop the question.

Reason being, from my understanding, a Malaysia’s muslim is NOT allow to marry someone who is a non-muslim,  especially if his/ her right one is a Christian! While a Malaysia’s non-muslim, such as Malaysia’s Christian, Malaysia’s Hindu or Malaysia’s Buddhist couples is by law have the freedom to marry the right one of any race.

Now, Billi Lim of Dare to Fail who is running for election, decides if he gets elected he will go forth and encourage more inter-marriages…read more here.

Is Malaysia ready for this? It was after all the government who impose regulations that the Malaysia’s muslims are by law not allowed to have inter-marriages…so are they going to be persuaded to lift the ban once Billi Lim gets a seat?

On one side of the coin, it is much celebrated by the ‘open-minded’ citizens, who believes such practice will be able to further strength the unity of the country. However,  for those who have strong faith in islam (here’s one unhappy), all I can say is “Good Luck, Billi!”

  1. Good point there. There is nothing wrong marrying a different race. It’s the religion conversion that makes it hard.

Islam itself forbids inter-faith marriage. Those who wish to marry a muslim must convert. Its written in the Quran.

  2. noktahhitam, are you saying other religions are all condemned to hell except islam? because that is what you are implying. May allah have mercy on your soul. It is written in hadith but not in quran. Get your facts right. Hadith are man made.

  3. trucall, no, I am not saying anyone will be condemned to hell or whatever. Read the lines and not between it.

To comprehend Quran & Sunnah, one needs knowledge. I suggest you google on Muhammad’s jew wife.

By the way, its in the Quran,

“Do not marry unbelieving women (idolaters), until they believe: A slave woman who believes is better than an unbelieving woman, even though she allures you. Nor marry (your girls) to unbelievers until they believe: A man slave who believes is better than an unbeliever, even though he allures you. Unbelievers do (but) beckon you to the Fire. But Allah beckons by His Grace to the Garden (of bliss) and forgiveness, and makes His Signs clear to mankind: That they may celebrate His praise.” -Al-Baqarah, 22.
